Hotlinking container background images

  • Hello

    I’m in process of creating websites, wherein, I would like to call an external image already uploaded in another domain and set it as the background image of a container.
    The problem is the background-image selection field only has the option to pick an image from internal media library but external URL.

    I’m developing some websites for one client wherein images required are already uploaded in the primary multisite, but I need to call in those images to be used in another multisite instance. Reuploading those images requires extra efforts and uses limited disk space.

    Is there any way to overcome this and allow hotlinking of images?

    Hi there,

    Just looked through the block editor component used for the image uploader and it doesn’t look like external URL is an option.

    This may be something we want to add a custom field for – will discuss with the team ??
