• Hello.
Probably this is a “weird” question:
I ‘ve found that people are hotlinking my images. Can’t find a way to change the url, though. If I use media replace and upload a new file, will I be able to replace the link with a new one? And of course all the links to be updated.
I know that this question is, somehow out of topic, but I would be grateful for any help…
    Best regards,
    F.

Hey @filoumenos – thanks for your message! ??

Did you try to use an anti-hotlinking plugin/solution?

    Please let me know,

    Hi,
Unfortunately all the plugins at the WP repositories either have a bad rating or they’re using many of the server resources.
On the other hand I am on a nginx server. Using nginx has a lot of pros but also, cons. As you can see, I can not edit the .htaccess. Nginx server doesn’t include one.
So, I need a handy, quick and easy solution. Changing the Urls seems the most effortless and easy solution, I can think of.
I knew about Media Replace plugin. I knew about its ability to update the files name and also, the url?
So, am I right? Can I use it for this purpose?
Thank you for taking the time to answer this. I know it is out of the scope of this plugin, but many people I believe, may found it useful as an anti-hotlinking alternative.
    Best regards,
    Fil

    Fil,
thank you for explaining me your reasoning behind.
Please note that if you have access to your Nginx server configuration you could just add there anti-hotlinking instructions and that’s it.

If that’s not possible then you could indeed go with the second replace option from EMR and that should be a fix as well though not as elegant as the one mentioned above.

I would appreciate your follow-up on this.

    Thank you,
    Alex
