@dpotter05 – Sorry to hear that, sounds like you may have benefitted from submitting a support ticket.

From just the info you have provided I would deduce that you probably did set it up correctly, as thousands of others have done, but may have another underlying issue that we can’t account for. There are dozens of known issues caused by even the most reputable themes & plugins. With the changes in WP 4.5 hundreds of themes suddenly had JS errors on every page. This isn’t an issue for the average Divi user, but for the ones that use other JS based plugins like Popup Maker it prevents our JS from ever running.

With so many possible issues out there, if you followed the guides which we both know you did, then likely the issue isn’t in Popup Maker at all.

Also unless you tried Easy Modal not sure reviewing it negatively back to back is fair either, if neither plugin worked, then I can assure you something else is wrong on your site, but not presenting since nothing else on your site is breaking by appearance. I say this because there are collectively 70k+ websites using the plugins, any issues in our control are closely watched and patched quickly.

Now that said if you have a link I would be happy to look at it, but I am assuming that you have moved on and will not revist the issue, though I hope you do so we can resolve it one way or another.

In any case, check your site for JS errors using the browser console as well as PHP errors. Never know what your going to find.

    Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your reply. I’m building a site for a client via a brand new installation of the Osmosis theme running WP 4.5.3.

I did start out with Easy Modal. Eventually I noticed the support docs Easy Modal links to are for a different plugin, Popup Maker. I discovered this after having spent over an hour trying to work through the documentation.

Realizing some of the shortcodes I was trying were for Popup Maker, I deactivated Easy Modal and installed Popup Maker. But still no luck, after having invested over an hour into learning that plugin and its documentation as well.

Afterward I installed PopUp by Supsystic and was able to get a popup running. This makes it seem less likely the issue was with the Osmosis theme, but doesn’t rule it out.

@dpotter05 – Now with more info it sounds possible that you were trying to create a popup using the [popup] shortcode, in which I appologize, that is only for advanced usage, instead you would use the Popup Maker -> Add New popup editor which has everything you need right there.

That said without knowing exactly what you tried, hard to say really. There are a few common setup issues, but we are quickly trying to document them or find solutions.

Glad you got a working solution, though I feel like if you had contacted support first we would have solved your issue and avoided a negative review. Hence our high ratings already, we are here to help our users, trudging through the forums every day ??
