How do I put a calendar on my site?
-
I would like to have a calendar on my website. I have gone over and over your documents. In fact I have gotten lost and lost again. Each time I click I go to a new page and loose the page I was on or it opens a new window and so on. HUGELY CONFUSING.
I saw a calendar on one of the demos that would be great if I can figure out how to make it appear on my site. But I can not find any information on how to make that happen.
Here is what I would like.
https://demo.wp-events-plugin.com/calendar/But I can not find a step by step process on how to make this appear on my site.
HOW???? Step one. Download program. Step two insert this code. >img.src>gotnocluewhattodo>//sumshit..
Step three USE IT!…
All the help stuff talks about configure this or Taxonony that. BTW what the heck is a taxonmnomy?
Anyway Where are the instruction on how to get the calendar ON MY SITE. I will worry later on “making it special” or purchasing the PRO version. Currently I can not even get the thing to show up on my site let alone pay for it.
All the best.
Jeff

you need to download WP FullCalendar from – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-fullcalendar/
OK I have done that. Now what?
Here is a quote I was given to help me.
I would start by saying this… the simplest way to get both plugins working together is installing them, and visiting both the settings page on Settings > WP Fullcalendar (select event post type) and then in Events > Settings > General > Full Calendar Options.
I do not understand even this simple set of instructions.
I go to the Settings>WP-Fullcaneldar and (select post type).
Here is what I see on the page.Post Types
By default, your calendar will show the types of posts based on settings below.
You can override these settings by choosing your post type in your shortode like this [fullcalendar type=”post”]. You can override taxonomy search settings as well like this [fullcalendar type=”post_tag,category”]. In both cases, the values you should use are in (parenteses) below.
Posts (post)
Choose which taxonomies you want to see listed as search options on the calendar.
Categories (category)
Tags (post_tag)
Format (post_format)
Pages (page)
Media (attachment)
Locations (location)
Events (event) – powered by Events ManagerOK So what do I select? What are the post types? Do I select all the boxes?
I selected the word POST at the top and I do not know what a taxonomoy is but I selected them as well. Below are selections for pages,Media, Locations and events. Do I select them also?
When I installed event manager I could not get it to work but the program created a bunch of pages that I have since deleted. Do I need them back? How do I get them back? Is that what the other check boxes do?
So when I say I have no clue I mean I have not the least of an idea of what to do. I do not understand what all this stuff does so I would like to have instructions that are slightly more detailed than install the program.
The next set of instructions says this.
and then in Events > Settings > General > Full Calendar OptionOK I am there… Events > Settings > General > Full Calendar Option. now what?
What do I do there. There are all kinds of options. What do I do here? Do I override the calendar? With what? Override the shortcode? What shortcode?I simple have no idea what this means or what to do with it. I also can not find any help menu that explains it or what to do with it.
If there is a place I can go read on what this stuff does and what the settings should be I will happily go read all about it.
Hoping for help.
Jeff
Assuming you only want to show events in WP FullCalendar, just the post option under Settings > WP FullCalendar to “Events”.
You can then show a calendar of events, like the one in the link you posted, by including this shortcode in any page you like:
[fullcalendar]
With the greatest respect… I can understand your frustration.
Not sure if you are the balloon guy.. if so I have looked at your website in Florida. If there is a place I can go read on what this stuff does...
Some of the questions you asked above are not specific to this plugin’s…..
But part of the whole scheme of things about WordPress.. for example “taxonomy”.I am guessing you are new to Worpress.. PHP.. and maybe some other facets generic to the programming .
I would suggest that maybe you start by Googling
learning wordpress
and start from there.Maybe you have experience with WordPress, and I apologize for my assumptions.
If you are a newbie… welcome to the world of WordPress ! ??
We were all newbies at one point and learn by reading and trying, and experimenting.
Just about every question has been asked at some point, and Googling and reading will get you there. While probably not all at once.. but you will get there. The next set of instructions says this. and then in Events > Settings > General > Full Calendar Option
Set the first 2 Options to “No”
Leave the rest as they were in the default. The next part pertains to WP Fullcalendar plugin which you downloaded and installed.
Your Admin-> Settings -> WP FullCalendar (the plugin)Don’t use “Posts” … click the Check Box for
Events (event) - powered by Events Manager
then underneath that click the Check Box for…
Event Categories (event-categories)
Below that is
Calendar Options
check the box for
Month
Week
DayThe above options should at least set up the “WP FullCalendar” plugin to get it going.
You said above that you deleted a bunch of “pages” pertaining to Events Manager.
Since you probably haven’t created a bunch of Events and Locations at this point..
I would suggest you do a clean install of Events Manager.. so those pages you deleted are brought back.Good luck. WordPress is the oyster.. ya’ just gotta crack that shell open.. (read and learn and google)… and you’ll find that perl inside.

Thank you.
I was so excited to try to follow your instructions. So I deleted both programs. Then re-installed them. This time the Event Manager program did not create the aditional pages as it had the first time. So I did not even make it out of the gate and fell on my face.
Once again I find myself beating my head blody against a wall I can not move.
Any Ideas anyone?
Yes I am the Balloon Guy. ThompsonAire.com HotAirBalloonist.com DesiredDreamsbathbombs.com IdentTags.com Appliancerepairtemaoffourcorners.com GinaThompsonPhotogramphy.com and a few others. Even with all these sites I have built I am still apparently a complete idiot.
So,
I deleted both programs. Reinstalled and event manager did nothing. No new pages.
Not to give up I then created a page called (of all things) CALENDAR.
Went into the event manager program and set the first two options to NO. Left the rest as they were.
I then went into he WP fullcalendar program and set he check box for events Powered by events manager and then clicked Event Categories. Also checked Calendar options, month week day.
I then went to the new page I made called “CALENDAR” and typed in the editor [fullcalendar]AND PRESTO… nothing. YUP.. nothing. Got any band aids. My forehead is bleeding pretty good now.
So I will go back and do a bunch more random things and see what happens. Guess that is what you meant by trying and experimenting.
Jeff.
Yepper.. That wall will not move no matter how hard I hit my head against it.
Once again I have spent a couple of hours to go no where. I went back and made sure the settings were as I was instructed.
I then thought well there were other pages that stuff was supposed to show up on so let me figure out were those pages went. Found a place were the settings allowed you to choose the page the things showed up on. GREAT Lets put everything on that new calendar page I just made. So I put all the stuff, Tags, events, categories, selections, bookings and the kitchen sink on the new Calendar page.
I then figure I should put a link on the navigaiong menue so I can go look at the calendar page easily as it comes to life (in my dreams)
When I get to the PAGES page, I find a bunch of pages called invalid. So I get rid of them and put the calendar page on the footer menu.
So now there is a calendar that I can not do anything to on the home page???? How the heck it go there will be a mystery for a while I am sure. There is a search box looking thing on the calendar page and nothing else. I have no way to add anything to the calendar that appears in the wrong place for some reason.
Golly what fun. Stay tuned for the next round of head banging.
Jeff
Nope. No luck. Read a whole bunch about Tags. Did not help. So we are now up to 7 hours of work to have nothing to show for it.
Good night.
Hello thompsonaire, I’m so sorry that you have trouble to make the calendar work. I was reading your posts because of the subscription of this forum.
You said, you dont know how to recreate the missing pages of events calendar. If I’m correct you have the free version of this plugin?
I’ve found at the settings a tab called pages where you can choose a page for e.g. archive or the booking page. Maybe that would help you to recreate your missing pages?
You can create:
Category
Tags
Locations + Archive
Events + Archive
Booking Pageand pages where you can Edit at frontend for
Booking
Events
LocationsIt would be interesting if you have any error messages at the console of your browser. (You said, you put the shortcode inside the page and you still can’t see anything.) You only have to right click in your browser on the page where you have put the code and using inspect elements. There’s a console tab, maybe there could be any javascript errors which could be interesting for the supporters of this plugin?

Can you post a link to the webpage you are trying to work on.
I don’t see anything on your existing balloon site.I looked at a couple of your websites and saw that you have some experience with WordPress so that at least you have the basics working for you.
Also.. deleting Events Manager and reinstall.. try going to
Settings -> Events Manager
General tab (you should be here automatically)
scroll all the way down to the bottom…
Admin Tools (Advanced)
the last option is…
Uninstall/Resetuse that… and try reinstalling Events Manager.
No need to uninstall WP FullCalendar- This reply was modified 6 years, 11 months ago by Robswaimea.
The Site I am trying to install a calendar on is
IdentTags.comWhat I am trying to reproduce is this demo.
https://demo.wp-events-plugin.com/calendar/Also.. deleting Events Manager and reinstall.. try going to
Settings -> Events Manager
General tab (you should be here automatically)
scroll all the way down to the bottom…

No need to uninstall WP FullCalendarDon’t worry about uninstalling right now because I see something is working..
Ok.. so I see the Calendar on your frontpage… so the problem you are having is that it is not showing on this page…
https://www.identtags.com/calendar/at the page.. https://www.identtags.com/calendar/
I am seeing this error (using Firefox Inspector the console Errors0
ReferenceError: WPFC is not definedon your front page I do not see that error.
On the problem page.. the calendar is actually loading but gets stopped before it can display.
Try a WordPress default theme like 2017 to test…
you only have two other plugins.. you can try to deactivate them but I don’t think that is your problemalso… On your front page it doesn’t look like you are actually using.. or have the WP FullCalendar working… ie: this shortcode look like is not being used..
[fullcalendar]
it looks like you are using something like this…
[events_calendar full="1"]
On the problem page try the same shortcode as your front page
