How a Can Post Author Get Email for All Comments on His Post

  • How can a person who adds a post to our blog get emnail each time someone adds a comment to that post?

    Not the site admin — me. I don’t want to see the comments for every post. But the person who adds a post does want to get email for each comment on the post.

    FYI I know about the WP Dashboard > Settings > Discussion > “Email me whenever” option. But that means the site admin will get the emails, right? That’s not what want.

    You are correct, that particular setting is for the administrator only, but the post author should automatically be emailed whenever a comment is made to his/her post.

    The only exception would be that when a comment is held in moderation, only the administrator receives the notice until the comment is approved.

    Hmmmm. Well that is not happening for our blog editor, the person who adds most of the posts.

    Recently I installed Intense Debate on our site, and when I did that, our blog editor stopped getting emails each time a comment was made on a post of his.

    Intense Debate did not work out for us, so I uninstalled it. But now the blog editor still isn’t getting getting emails each time a comment was made on a post of his.

    So, some basic WordPress functionality is broken, it seems. Any suggestions for how this might be fixed? Or what would be broken?

    So, it worked before installing Intense Debate?

    Try re-saving the email address in his user profile.

    Nope that didn’t work. I’ll have someone look deeper into this. I’ll repost if we discover something interesting.

    Drusso1, I am having the same issue. Have you found an answer yet?

    I am having exact opposite issue where posters ARE getting e-mails of comments on their posts ready for moderation when I though only admin would get those messages.
