Hi there, we have been using this stripe plugin for ages and implemented apple and android pay recently. one aspect that has confused us with apple and android is that while it displays in the product page and basket(cart) it then bypasses the normal checkout page where we have contact preferences for marketing placed. it will process and pull through delivery details and the email address but then goes straight through to the order confirmed page bypassing the checkout page completely. We use Flatsome as our theme, guest checkout and account creation is done on the Checkout page not cart/basket page this page also includes order note fields which then are not evident in Apple/Android pay?.

Our dev managed to disable it showing on the product page as options to use offer codes were then not available making people come via the cart but ideally we need to be able to present these to people if they select apple or android pay.

How do people cater for this?

Also is there a way within stripe to see who has used apple or android pay like you can for visa/ amex etc?

    thank you in advance!

    Steve

    Hi Steve

The smart payment buttons will bypass the checkout and therefore the account creation as they pull the info from Apple/Android pay itself.

You are correct that you can remove it from the product pages, as you’ve found.

If you want to give folks the requirement in selecting options at checkout, then you won’t be able to use the smart payment buttons.

Thanks Melinda, Are you looking to enhance this at all it seems a important aspect missing from this feature. especially in light of GDPR and PECR/eprivacy regulations around marketing preferences. The basket/cart button is being used a lot in a very short time so it would be a real shame to not use which then stops us from being able to use apple and android pay as they then don’t appear in the checkout page at all (unless you can advise how to do this using the plugin).

are there any options at all in the pipeline?

ideally before completing it goes to a pref page / create an account (where it pulls in the apple/android address and contact details) or similar?

    thanks

    Hi @bamsystems,

I spoke to the developers and they say they are looking into it, but do not have a concrete time table. I did reference this thread to them for follow up if needed.

I know it is not the answer you were probably looking for, but it is on the map!

Thank You Mike. Hopefully not too far in the future for the roadmap.

We will try and find a way to present these at the order complete stage as an interim.

    thanks

    Steve
