    Hi,

Thank you for a great plugin. I am also a grateful user of Nested pages. Great plugin as well.

I just want to confirm a couple of things:

    Your plugin Users settings says:

“Logged in users’ favorites are saved in both the selected save type and in the user’s meta.”

But as a non developer I would like to just confirm that I understand how faves are saved:

“in the user’s meta.” – Does that mean in a table that is part of the database for the site?

Does this mean if the user browser deletes its cookies, or closes, or user loses all client side info about faves, and at a later date the user logs in again, he/she can see their favorites because they are pulled from the database?

Cookie vs. session – I do understand how info can be saved in a cookie but I do not understand “session”. I have heard of session cookies – is this what “session” means?

Looking up session it seems to be server side. But then are the favorites lost when the user closes their connection to the server?

    Sorry for the layperson questions.

Logged-in users’ favorites are stored in the usermeta table in the database. This is where user-specific settings are stored by WordPress.

Since this data is stored in the database, it is not dependent on the user’s browser at all. If someone deletes they’re browser cookies, quits the session, logs in somewhere else, etc… they are unaffected.

A session what the name implies… a single session or visit from a user. Session variables are stored on the server and removed once the session is. They are best for short, disposable bits of information.
