    Hi camu,

it’s me again ?? Sorry for flooding your support forum but I think it’s easier for you to have every issue in a single thread.

This time I recognized that a blog was identified as search engine and the post ID (from the other blog linking to mine) was taken as search query. Maybe this has something to do with the problem a user had a few days ago. But as his numbers didn’t seem like WordPress post IDs I decided to start a separate thread.

If there’s some kind of white list for search engines please note that https://www.tauss-gezwitscher.de doesn’t belong on this list. Otherwise I would be happy if you could shortly explain how search engines get identified in SlimStat.

    Hi saltpit,

it’s considered a “search engine” any site that sends visitors to YOUR site by providing search results related to YOUR pages ??

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_Results

A white list for search engines is not currently implemented, but it could be added to my todo list, even if I don’t see why would people not consider sites that ADHERE to the definition of ‘search engine’ here above ??

    Cheers,
    Camu

That makes sense, thank you. In this case there seems to be a problem with the recognition of WordPress search results on sites with short URLs.

To be concrete please have a look at:
    https://www.tauss-gezwitscher.de/?p=3569

The last comment/pingback links to my site. Even though this is not a set of search results the blog is listed in SlimStat as referring search engine with the post ID “3569” as query.

A search would look like this:

    https://www.tauss-gezwitscher.de/index.php?s=merkel

If my site was listed in this results I would consider this a correct entry as “search engine”. Did I get it wrong?

Very good point, that’s definitely a bug in the script ?? I’ll fix it in 2.8.8

    Cheers

Ps: I love the search query example you used LOL

Thanks, I’m looking forward to it.

And I’m glad you had fun with Merkel. She is and ever will be one of our internationally best known German comedians ??
