How are wordpress users & CiviCRM contacts linked

    Hello,

    Can you explain how the wordpress users & CiviCRM contacts are linked?

    Does it only sync existing wordpress users whose name fields match with CiviCRM contacts?

    Or does this plugin create new wordpress users for each CiviCRM contact and then link them itself?

    Many thanks for your help – I am researching for an upcoming project and keen to get this right, but am at the edge of my understanding!

    It doesn’t create new users, it only syncs those that are already synced – based on Civi’s ufMatch table. It will keep the ‘first name’, ‘last name’, ’email’ and ‘website’ fields in WordPress and Civi (and in BuddyPress if you’ve got that appropriately set up) in sync. There are also hooks to allow other plugins to extend the fields that are synced.
