• Few days ago I have submitted a plugin idea and we are already working on it. Someboday follwed my idea and implemented it on her blog.

How can I claim my ownership on my idea?

You’ll need to discuss this with a legal profession as we’re just volunteers that support WordPress software.

Side note: Remove the link to your site in the About Yourself biographical section. Links there are considered spamming. I’m not saying you are spamming but really please remove that. That field should not permit that and today I will submit a ticket to get that capability removed.

Too many actual spammers abuse that field and yes, they ruin it for the rest of us. I’d really appreciate it if you complied.

    ONTO YOUR TOPIC:

I moved this topic from Developing with WordPress because that’s a sub-forum for coding questions and not this.

How can I claim my copyright on ideas submitted at WordPress?

You don’t claim copyright on an idea you submitted in a public support forum. You submitted it in a public forum.

I’m trying to remain un-snarky in my reply and I’ve not yet completed a cup of coffee this morning. I am going to close this topic right after my reply.

tl;dr Consult a lawyer if you choose but you’ll be wasting your time and money.

Longer version: Everything in WordPress is opensource. If someone posts an idea to solve a problem then no one should be surprised when someone either does that idea or offers to work on that.

That’s how opensource works. If you don’t want that then don’t submit your ideas in public. No, your post in that Ideas forum will not be deleted either.

The reason I’m closing this topic is that you don’t have a tangible problem with the software available on these topic. That’s what these forums are for, helping users with WordPress, WordPress add-ons such as plugins and themes on this site.

It’s not for dealing with ideas, copyright and ownership. Those are tags you’ve added to this topic and I’ve removed them.

    I’m now closing this topic.
