How Can I Control the Width and Border of a Table?

I want to use a table on one of the pages but I am not able to customize the table. I want to control the width of the table and I do not want a visible border on the table.

I tried working directly with the page editor, text view, and putting code into the table for width and border, but the changes were not reflected in the table.

I looked in the style.css and made a few changes, but the changes did not take effect. I even went so far as to delete the whole table section (“2.6 Table” starting on line 341). That did nothing.

I do not know what else to try or where else to look. I need a table that is NOT the full width of the page and that does NOT have a border.

Can you help me with this? I am not a programmer, so simple instructions are appreciated.
