How can I disable comments?

Hi Chip,
I’m using a WordPress theme.

A friend using 2010 was able to set the comments off, but doesn’t recall how she did it. I’ve seen instructions to edit the code to eliminate comments, but I haven’t found the exact code in the source page. So that isn’t really an option.

What now?

Guys i manage to disable comments on my site, well actually i removed the website field all natural product reviews the problem is, people are still posting spam messages.

I manually approve all the comments on my blog and have the GASP plugin to stop all the bot spamming. I don’t use Akismet because it prevents less bot spam and I can lose valid comments.

When I want to remove the comments from a page or post I use the quick edit on the dashboard for that post and uncheck the allow comments box. This will remove the comments from that particular post or page and not from the entire site. I have a website about natural skin care products that I set up like this and if you go to the privacy page or other core pages you will see the comments box is missing.
