I have an issue with the navigation on my site. I want to disable the link to the parent menu ‘Artists’ (as it’s just a group heading) and only have the child pages as links:

    Prints-Inc

It seems like it should be really simple, but I can’t figure out how to do it!! Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Click Appearance, then Menus, and at the left you can see your menus links, open them and delete the parent link and save.

    Many thanks for the reply.

I would like to keep the ‘Artists’ as the menu heading, but not have it linking to a page itself. The only ‘clickable’ links should be in the dropdown list (in this case ‘Jamie Paul’ and ‘Lynyrd Paras’).

Any help would be much appreciated. It seems like it should be easy, but I can’t figure it out!!

    hi RobJonze,
You can do it click Appreance –> menu and in the left you can see “Links” in which you can add external or static URL form menu just add “#” in Url and add it in menu. I think it`ll help you

    Hi Virendra,

Thank you so much!! It was so simple, and I feel ever-so-slightly foolish for not figuring this out myself!

    Fathi,

I now realise that Virendra’s solution was what you were pointing me towards. My apologies for not grasping it, and wasting everyone’s time!

respectfully, I find it not at all simple and would appreciate a clarification of the sentence:

“you can add external or static URL form menu just add “#” in Url and add it in menu. “

That sentence is missing words or punctuation (maybe both) that I am unable to deduce.

On the left side of the Menus page, I see a box containing a list of certain pages. To see all the existing pages, I chose “View All.” (not mentioned in the instructions).

The list, with a checkbox allows me to select certain parent pages. OK so far.

But according to the instructions, I now can ” . . . add external or static URL form menu just add “#” in Url and add it in menu.”

But that is not so. It makes no sense to me. Just add what??? And add it exactly where?

There is no option to add anything here. What form are you speaking of? I see no form. I see no URL to which I can add anything.

    Please clarify?

Is this just my usual stupidity or do the instructions make assumptions beyond my limited imagination?

    Hi Joe Hark
You need the custom menu visible (Appearance > Menus). On the LHS there’s a block with Pages, Categories and Links. Custom menus are normally made from Pages and Categories but Links allows you to link to other sites direct from the menu. The Links area defaults to a URL of https:// and it is this that you replace with the # symbol.

    Hope this helps.
