How can I duplicate an image from the media library?

Hi

I’m looking for a solution (plugin, code-samples, etc..) to duplicate an image from the media library.

Why?
I want to use already uploaded images but with other clipping / picture detail. I know how to crop, scale and save an image with the image editor, but this overwrites the original image and the original image has to stay untouched on the server!

I know that reuploading the image is a solution, but not the solution I’m looking for.
I want to duplicate an existing image on the server / media library, like it would be reupped!

Basically it should not be a big thing. But how?

Does someone know a Plugin or has done already something similarly?
