• I have spent a couple of hours trying to find where to edit the footer of our blog here. It still says “2021” in it and I’d like to update it to “2023”.

I have read and followed the instructions on a few websites re: editing WordPress footers. They suggest editing the footer in the theme customize options, the menu customise section etc., but none of those options are available with the theme we’re using which is an old one.

I’ve also edited the footer.php file at /home/azam/public_html/azam/wp-content/themes/bloggingpro_wr/footer.php but the footer text there is different to that on the website and editing it doesn’t update the footer on the website.

I’ve searched for all files with the word “foot” or “footer” in them, but none of them have the footer text. Same with the other php files in the Theme’s folder at wp-content/themes/bloggingpro_wr

Any advice on what I can edit to update the footer text please?

The ‘Inspect Element’ feature in browsers does give an indication of where the text is in the code, but, for the life of me, I can’t find it!

Thank you very much. I greatly appreciate your support.

This is managed by your theme. You’re using a commercial/premium theme, so please use their official support channel. We feel they are best equipped to support their products.

Thank you for your response, which is hugely appreciated.

    1. The theme was completely free and we never had to pay for it.
    2. The company that created the theme, which you have linked to, has stopped supported the theme in 2014. They don’t reply to communications.

The edit of the footer is not specifically related to this theme, but a general query about editing WordPress footers.

    Can anyone therefore help please?

    Many thanks!

I’d start by looking at footer.php and working my way back through the theme.

Thanks again for your help. Much obliged.

As per my message above, unfortunately editing the footer.php file does not update the text in the footer.

My own expertise of WordPress does not allow me to track back from the file where the footer code may be pulled from.

I have saved the footer file here in case anyone is able to help. As you may see, I have updated the Copyright message to 2023, but on the webpage it still shows as 2021 as the text is coming from elsewhere (I have ensured several times the page is not cached).

    Thanks a million.

It’s somewhere — it may be in your database.

Hmmmm… this is on your page:

<script type="text/javascript">jQuery(document).ready(function($){jQuery(".Footer p").html('<p>? Copyright 1997-2021 <a href="https://www.azam.net/" title="Azam Marketing? has been leading the way in digital marketing, design and publishing since 1997. Go here to visit our corporate website." alt="Azam Marketing? has been leading the way in digital marketing, design and publishing since 1997. Go here to visit our corporate website." target="_BLANK" rel="noopener">Azam Marketing, Inc.?</a>, London, Manchester, Paris and New York. All rights reserved.</p>')})</script>

There’s some jQuery adding your footer info. Really, as it’s a commercial theme, you may need to hire a developer. We can’t get too much into it here.
