I’ve tried to find an answer to this question in the forums but can’t seem to find the answer. Categories are meaningless for my blog. I’d like to be able to eliminate them in both the sidebar and the post, but can’t find the procedure to do this.

I’m sure this is pretty basic but it’s beyond my skills. I’d really appreciate help with this!

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

  • 1. You can NOT eliminate the category system itself. It would kill your blog.
    2. Remove the Template_Tags that display the categories from your template files.

I’m having problems finding the template files that contain the Template Tags that need to be removed. I assume I’m looking for the wrong thing. I need some guidance here… what exactly do I need to look for and where do I find it? Sorry for being so dumb.

You said you want to remove the categories from the sidebar. Shouldn’t that be sidebar.php in your theme?
As for the rest – what template files are you using in your theme?
index, archive, single, page ? – go through them.

Obvioulsy you look for catgeory tags:

Thanks for the help! Now that you have explained it, it makes perfect sense. I have so much I need to learn.
