    Hi there,

I’m a Google publisher with the magazine YesiCannes.com and need to generate two kinds of Google News XML sitemaps:
    – one for the English version of the reports yesicannes.com
    – one for the French version yesicannes.com/fr

Your plugin is told to be compatible with Polylang which I use to make the bilangual magazine.

I just activated the plugin and could’nt find out how to generate the Google News XML sitemaps to feed in Google Search Console.

Would you please be so kind as to tell me how to get both News XML sitemaps, especially for the French version, as the News SEO by Yoast plugin only generates a News XML sitemap for the default language, mixing posts in English and French, which is confusing Google bots.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Alain

  • Hi, this plugin too will create just one news Sitemap where all languages should be present. Each entry should have the correct language tag, detected from and according to the Polylang settings. This is according the Google News guidelines as far as I know.

Why do you think it’s confusing Google?

Also please note that adding the news Sitemap to search console is not enough. You should also submit it for inclusion to Google News itself…

    Hi,

Thanks for your answer. But How can I generate a News sitemap with your plugin? In news SEO by Yoast, I just have to click on a button…

Please tell me how to generate one with yours.

It is confusing Google because its bots can’t extract the articles in French. The Google team wants me to provide a News XML sitemap for the French version.

Could you telle me how to generate one with your plugin ?

many thansk in advance for your help.

There is an option on Settings > Reading to enable the Google News Sitemap. This will create a Google News feed on /sitemap-news.xml

But looking at your site, you’ll need to do several things before that feed will be visible:

    1. You’ll need to deactivate the Feedburner plugin which redirects ALL feeds (not only the normal RSS feeds) to FeedBurner.

    2. You’ll need to uninstall all other news sitemap plugins and delete the static file called sitemap-news.xml that it leaves in the root of your site.

After that, the feed should be visible to Google News.

    Many thanks for your answer!

Looks like you’re still using that other sitemap plugin, which is no problem but you’ll need to ask for support elsewhere ??
