How can I get a featured image to open in a link besides the post?

I would like to be able to have my featured images on the homepage to link to a url other than the post. I want to do this because I am hoping to set a youtube video as the link and have it open up in lightbox. I’ve been trying to figure this out for weeks. any help would be greatly appreciates!
