How can I get a new wordpress installation to read the existing database?
-
I somehow screwed up the original wordpress installation and was advised to uninstall, download a new copy, modify the wp-config file iwth the db hostname, username, dbname and password, then upload to the site. I did that and went to /wp-admin/install.php but got this error message:
Already Installed
You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.Anyone have an idea of what I did wrong, or how to fix it? I do have a backup copy of hte db, but I’m very unclear about how to copy it into a new database.
Also, I don’t know if this makes a difference, but the original wp was set up on allinfoaboutreading.info, then we tried to move it to allinfoaboutreading.com (same server, just putting the .com name as primary). The new wp is set up on the .com name, but I don’t know if that changes anything with the way it calls the database info.
Thanks for any help!
Sandy
