How can I get automatic notification of replies to my posts?

  • I post here quite often
    I haven’t figured out how to get automatic notification of replies to my posts
    (Currently, I have to remember to come back in a few hours and check if I’ve had any replies!)

    How do I do this?

    Is the answer RSS? (I haven’t ever really used this for anything)

    Why does the message board not have an automatic emailing facility like other forums?

  • Sadly, RSS is the only way that I know off other then physically checking.

    You will need a RSS client or something on those lines to use it.

    The author of a post is notified of a comment when the Email me whenever -> Anyone posts a comment is set in Administration > Settings > Discussion.

    I think MichaelH things you are talking about a WordPress post rather then a post on here.

    No it’s listed on the left menu–if you don’t see it talk to your blog administrator.

    Oh darn–you mean in these forums…duh…

    Yeah RSS feed is the only avenue.

    michael, i think u must be on overdrive posting replies to posts today ??

    rss: is there anyway i can have it send me emails?
    i don’t fancy using a 3rd party application just for rss
    i use google applications for my emails – as far as i know, there is no rss ability for that (i think there is for gmail)

    Well you’re already do google so use google reader. You can also get a RSS reader for firefox.

    If you would rather get an e-mail per RSS update, you could always use a service like – https://www.feedmailer.net/

    Just Google RSS to e-mail and I am sure you will find many ??

    i use chrome – just looked up rss on extensions and have added

    though: i really don’t think it should be necessary at all

    if u guys pay me $100, i’ll install phpbb for u if u want? ??

    actually… in another post, i asked what the WP website was built on since i was dissapointed that it wasnt built on WP itself

    the answer i got was: buddy press (variation)

    surely buddy press has the automatic notification built in?
