How Can I Get My Featured Images To Open To Videos

I’d like to be able to click on featured images on the homepage and have them open into video boxes on my site. I have shadowbox installed and it works just like this in regular posts because I can set the video url as the link. I can’t seem to do this on the featured image though. anyone know how to do this? Thanks!
