How can I list the total number of posts next to each category?

You can use the get_terms() function perhaps. Read more about it here: https://developer.www.ads-software.com/reference/functions/get_terms/

Thanks Poonam, but that plugin has not been tested with my version of wordpress and is abandonware, hasn’t been updated in a year. Know of any others?

Hi otpidusprime, thanks but I have no idea where i would paste that code, doesn’t say where to past in the link or in the WP codex. Where would you recommend pasting

Found the answer from a web marketing forum. In the categories widget there is a drop down menu that says “Show Post Counts. Clicked that and it worked.
