How come the Editor can’t create posts?

    I’m puzzled… twice…:

    How come the default capabilities for Editor doesn’t include “Create Posts” and “Create Pages”?

    And when I switch to an Editor – How come I CAN create posts & pages (I see the “Add New” button)?

    ‘create_posts’ is not included to the set of WordPress default capabilities. WordPress uses ‘edit_posts’ instead of ‘create_posts’ by default.

    Such puzzle is possible if ‘create_posts’ capability was added, but not really activated. It may take place for example, if you worked with User Role Editor Pro (with such option active), but later switched back to a free version of URE, for example, or deactivated ‘Activate “Create” capability for posts/pages/custom post types’ option at the URE Pro Settings.
