Hi, I’m using your plugin in my website to have the compliance with the new GDPR law.
I don’t understand how cookies is going to delated, that is:
I put manually the cookies that my site use in COOKIE LIST; after that I use in COOKIE LAW SETTING the BUTTON REJECT.
    1. If the Action is on Close Header, cookies are deleted or not?
    2. If the Action is on Open URL, i use a link with a page where I insert your shortcode to delete Cookies. But if I click on shortcode [delete_cookies], what happen?Cookies are deleted or not?
In both of this case, if cookies are deleted, where and how I can see that?

It’s very urgent, can you help me please?
    Thanks in advance,
    Elisa

  • I do not get it either … what is happening with the cookies in the cookie list?

I put ID and stuff in there … is it supposed to delete these cookies if somebody refuses to accept? or how does it work?

or does one have to buy the pro version for this to work? =)

    Hi @elisa94 @228dan,

When you click on the [delete_cookie] shortcode the cookie viewed_cookie_policy will be deleted from the browser. This cookie is used to store the user’s consent. The deleted cookie will again show up when the website is reloaded.

The reject button in the plugin will set the value of viewed_cookie_policy to “no” and the scripts related to the non-necessary cookies will not be rendered on the site.

You can see whether the cookies are deleted or not from the browser itself. You can delete the individual cookies from the browser which will then again show up once the site is reloaded if you have not put the restrictions in place.

@markwt Thanks ?? i get that part but what scripts or restrictions do i have to put to prevent setting cookies?

i have the id s of the 2 cookies i want to block in the list but they get not restricted =)

Ok thanks very much for your answer:)
So the shortcode [delete_cookies] or the function CLOSE HEADER (REJECT) do the same thing, right?
But I have another question…if in my site i have that cookies:
    xxlplanBAK
    xxlplanD
    __ddtest
    __bcvc
    __bcsc
    __bctc
    _ga
    _gid
    _gat
And I put them in my COOKIE LIST, when I click the button REJECT or on shortcode DELETE COOKIE, all this cookies for the session are delete?

I had a look at what the plugin does. It looks like this to me:

CLOSE HEADER (ACCEPT) places the viewed_cookie_policy cookie with calue ‘yes’.
CLOSE HEADER (REJECT) places the viewed_cookie_policy cookie with calue ‘no’.
The viewed_cookie_policy cookie has a lifetime of 1 year. No more questions for that time.

The shortcode [delete_cookies] deletes the viewed_cookie_policy cookie. The notice pops up again.

So they are not doing the same thing.

@wp-bernd So, if I want to delete all cookies, also Google Analytics cookies, what I have to use?

Not sure yet. I’m new to this kind of coding. But I’ve got the same ‘problem’, more or less.

I’ve written a php function to do it. Now I’m looking for a good way to parse the list of cookies and to make it work without page reloading.

Well, I wrote yesterday evening for the same question. I tried all browsers, I have 34 cookies marked as non-necessary in the cookie table, but I can’t view they are delete on click reject button… If someone find a solution, thanks.
