Another user complained about this 7 months ago, but the post is closed. This is just to say that the OptinMonster install is sneaky and annoying. It happened to one of my clients after I recommended that she use AIOSEO instead of Yoast. A while later she was complaining to me about a red dot on her admin. This was to get her to purchase OptinMonster. It’s time you removed this tie-in or made the feature crystal clear.

  • This plugin is all about up selling or locking away everything useful to force an upgrade. And to add plugins automatically with no permission is horrible. Will never use this or look at it again!

    Hi @pkwooster,

I’m really sorry for the confusion here.

The plugin you mentioned will only be installed if they are selected during the Setup Wizard in All in One SEO.

There is an option in the All in One SEO Setup Wizard where we specifically ask users if they want to install and activate additional conversion or analytics plugins on their site.

Again, I’m sorry for the confusion and I can assure you that they are installed only after you’ve enabled those options (based on your consent) in the Setup Wizard.

If you don’t require these plugins, then you can safely deactivate and delete them and they will not be installed or activated again unless you run our Setup Wizard again and select the options mentioned above.

    Hi @emperorfpm,

Our free version comes with a TON of value and includes all the basic SEO features that most sites need.

For example, it offers SEO for Posts, Pages, and Custom Post Types with focus keyphrase in our TruSEO Analysis, social meta for Posts, Pages, and Custom Post Types, and WooCommerce Integration for SEO and social meta of WooCommerce products.

Additionally, it includes Schema Rich Snippets such as Breadcrumb Schema, Sitelinks Searchbox Schema, and Person and Organization Schema.

Breadcrumbs, automatic generation of XML sitemaps, and control over the priority and frequency of each Post Type and Taxonomy in the XML sitemap are also available in our free version.

We believe that our free version provides enough features to fulfil the basic SEO requirements of any site. However, we do offer a Pro version with additional features and functionality that some users may find useful. But we don’t lock away everything useful in the Pro version, as you’ve suggested.

We appreciate your feedback and hope you’ll give our plugin another try.

Yes, All In One SEO is a good plugin, and the free version does what we need. I’ve been recommending it to clients for a while over Yoast, and we use it in house as well. It’s just a surprise when I get a message from a client with the subject “Red Dot” and a screen shot of the plugins showing the red dot beside a plugin I didn’t recommend and that she doesn’t need. I then wasted half an hour finding where it came from. This is especially annoying when I see that the red dot is an ad telling her to purchase that plugin.
