• Hi,

we have a WP site online since 2009 and in years it has reached good ranking and a good number of visitors.
Two weeks ago we updated WP core, did some layout updates and moved site to a new server.
Seems that updating wp core set by default “Discourage search engines from indexing this site”.
We left setting this way for about 7 days before removing it and guess let search engine working properly.
Now three days are passed but still seems visits coming from google (which where very good) are still decreasing.
Does anybody knows if there is some procedure/technique we should follow for solve-speed up rank/index “recovering”?

    Thanks!

Hi Krishna, thanks for the answer.
Yes I have checked, only weord thing are some 404 errors detected, but I see nothing strange.
Only little weird thing is in Health->crawl errors->not found that is gone from 702 to 1108 (seems to me not a big issue anyway).

Do you actually find 404 errors in your site?

No, even analytics doesn’t show growing 404 errors And weird point is that 404 URL found have “in sistemaps” tab empty and “linked from” sitemap empty so I don’t understand from where those link come from. Seems to me really old URL, removed long time ago.

Google quite often reports several nonexistent URLs as 404, URLs not found, etc. Such errors can result from Google’s own script errors and other reasons. You can safely ask Google to ignore/remove those links. Still better, submit a new site map and wait for a day or two and look for the number of pages indexed and the number of pages in your sitemap.

I have submitted a new sitemap just before seeing new 404 errors showing. Anyway urls marked as 404 are not present in sitemap and this makes thing even mre strange
