Hello. This plugin does not use shortcodes.

The main goal is to avoid so much time without new posts (you can specify the allowed time without new posts).

What this plugin does is to automatically change the post_date (and the post_modified if you want) of the oldest post that match with your category selection.

So the oldest post becomes the newest, as if it had just published.

    I hope this helps.
Anyway, thank you for your interest.

So I would need to do a featured post with the most recent in that category?

In example, if you create a category for the posts you want rotate, only those posts will be altered (the oldest will become the most recent).

If you want different featured posts rotating on your main page (displaying one at once), I′m afraid this plugin will not met your needs because it only modifies post_date and post_modifed.

Actually this might work. I just need to display a post in a category by revision date rather than post date. I think custom code is going to be required. Surprised someone hasn’t already made a plugin for this. More research I suppose. In the end your plugin might lead to the solution.

I believe I made it work. Couldn’t have done it without this plugin as a base. Seems to be updating with a simple addition to functions.php in the theme and a shortcode created through that function.

Glad to hear you made it work ??

trying to use this plugin for a custom post type, can you tell me how I can configure it to see my custom post type please?

    Hello daogeek.
I′m sorry, but you can only filter the affected posts by category and not by post type, at least for now.

I’m using a real estate theme that creates custom post types for Properties as one example, as well as for Agents and another for Testimonials.

These do not seem to allow me to add any posts within them to any category.

What can I do to get this working?

    Hello daogeek.
As I said, the plugin does not support custom post types. It doesn’t matter is you’d figure how to add your mentioned posts into a concrete category. These posts are not standard (post type: post), so the plugin won’t work with them, sorry.
