How do I add a logo to the left of my header?

I am still in the process of editing my page to make it look right before I get started blogging. I leave for my trip Sunday and still have quite a few things to figure out!

For now- I’m trying to add a logo to my header. I want it to be roughly the same size as my font (maybe a little bigger) and be on the left. But from the left of the logo to the right of the font, I want that t
o be centered. (so move the font over to the right a little).

My current code doesn’t have a space for a logo and I am going through a child theme anyways. What code would I need to add to get a logo to appear there and move my header over a little?
