How do I add updates to a child theme?

  • Hello, an outside designer used a child them to design my website. I have an update to the theme and it recommends installing it from within the child theme, but there is no obvious automatic way to do this.

    Can anyone give me a step by step on how to install child themes? keep in mind I’m not a designer or a techie so please feel free to explain it as though i were a 5-year-old.

    I am using the Neue Theme. But I got this message:

    Twenty Twelve
    You have version 1.5 installed. Update to 1.6.

    Doesn’t look to me like Neue is related to Twentytwelve at all. You can update other themes without affecting the one you are using if that’s what you are asking.

    For help with Neue, you’ll need to ask the developer of the theme – as these forums don’t support commercial themes.
