    Hi,

I’m hoping Pods can do what I want. I think it can, but I can’t make it work.

I use Learndash for my ecourse. It lets me add ‘topic tags’, which I’ve done.

But, I want to create a unique set of tags for each and every course I have, without having them cross link across courses.

I set up a new ‘pod’ to create a set of tags for one specific course of mine. All good so far.

But how do I assign them to my Learndash topic pages? Usually, to add normal Learndash topic tags, there’s a field in the right hand column of a Learndash topic page that lets you add your tags.

I was expecting to see a new field there asking me to add my new tags (e.g. “Coursextags”) But can’t see anywhere to assign them to a topic post. See pic.

    Hope that makes sense.

Note – I can succesffully create tags in the new pod. I just can’t assign them to the topic posts.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Think I found it – I can’t add them to the topic post page down the right hand column, but I can add them using ‘quick edit’. Seems weird but at least I found it.

    Hello @drdrink

Tags are meant to be used across multiple posts/objects. That is the sole purpose of tags (taxonomies).
Why do you want dedicated tags for a single item?
I think in that case you can better just create a block where you add these terms (static HTML).

Also, since you use the block editor, please enable the REST API for these taxonomies to enable block editor support. This is a requirement of WordPress core.

    Cheers, Jory

    Thanks Jory,

It’s not a single item I want dedicated tags for, it’s for an entire single ecourse.

E.g. I have separate dedicated courses for my different client organisations, teaching them how to sell.

I want tags across all topic posts such as ‘conversations’, ‘objections’, ‘pricing’, ‘closing’ etc.

But when they click on, say, ‘pricing’ it must bring up topics only from that client’s course. And not the content tagged as ‘pricing’ from other clients courses!

What I’ve done is set up what I think is a ‘pod’ – a new taxonomy dedicated to ‘clienta’ and another for ‘clientb’ and so on. Then I can tag those up with ‘pricing’, ‘conversations’ etc and use the label ‘clienta’ to put up a dedicated tag cloud which only links to the topic posts within that specific client’s course.

    Hope that makes sense.

I don’t know how to enable the REST API – and I’m struggling to find clear info on how to do it. If you happen to know of clear instructions that would be great.

    Thanks,
    Mark
