• I need one e-commerce feature without the use of plugins. For an example, see the fragrances drop down menu:
    https://methodhome.com/product/foaming-hand-wash/

On the front end, I want a drop down options menu that has colors. When you select a color, the image changes to match it.

On the back end, I want a master directory that works like Categories. When you create a new post, there is a checklist of available colors on your right (just like you would have for Categories). Checkmark the colors that are available and publish. When it shows up on the site, it will only display the color options that were checkmarked.

There are plenty of bulky e-commerce plugins out there that offer some variation of this, but I don’t need the whole package. I just need the one drop down menu with an easy to manage box in the admin area.

What’s the best way to approach building it?

    Thanks!

  • You’d need to start building your own custom plugin.

As I said, I don’t want to use a plugin.

After doing some reading, I’ve created a taxonomy that works very nicely in the admin. So the task is half completed. Now I’m trying to find code to display the taxonomy as a drop down menu. So far, nothing I’ve found works.

    Any suggestions?
