• There are some plugins that allow custom avatars, but none of them remove the Gravatar-related fields in the user profile, which is confusing for users, and the site is still calling to Gravatar when pages load. Privacy is a concern for my users (many of them are using pseudonyms in the forum), and having their internet-wide gravatar suddenly pop up is undesirable.

WHY ISN’T THERE A CHECKBOX THAT SAYS I DON’T WANT TO USE FREAKING GRAVATAR? It is ostensibly a third-party site/piece of software, why is it impossible to avoid in WP?

    Can someone please help?

    Tammi

  • Did you go to the Settings -> Discussion menu, and unchecked the gravatar option?

There is no Gravatar-specific checkbox there. I can uncheck “Show Avatars,” but that’s not what I want. I want to be able to use local avatars and NOT have a Gravatar option at all.

Yeah I’m having serious GDPR issues with this gravatar as well. It’s potentially pretty much tracking users around the web where gravatar is used
