• I am creating a website through WordPress and the site has a section for recent news articles as well as a blog section. Now if I need to funnel the 3 most recent news articles onto the homepage but NOT include recent blogs or any other blog entries what would be the best practice? Would it be best to funnel it through by targeting it by a category? OR is it possible to create an additional “blog” type template to stand alone?

I have been running this through my mind for a while today… let me bounce this off you. What if I just added my news articles in as blog entries, BUT filed them under the category of “News” and then created a php loop on the homepage to only include blog entries that are under the category of News.

I tried and searched and did ??

    But with this article:

and optional the “Enhanced Recent posts” – plugin

Just create a page. Create the posts you want for that page. Publish them. Then use the Inline posts – plugin to display the posts on your page. Use the Category Page excluder – plugin to exclude those posts from your homepage. Optional:next use the Enhanced recent posts-plugin to define wich posts etc to show on your recent posts.

That worked for me, maybe it will get you started to…

    Cheers

This was SUCH a HUGE help! I really appreciate it! I implemented it and it works great. But now of course one other question. I noticed that it ends up displaying the entire post instead of an excerpt, or the info up till the ‘read more’ link. is there a way to show a small snippit of that post?
