How do I customize the icon next to my URL

try a search for “favicon.jpg” Creating one can be “interesting” and I can’t help there. I made one once. Haven’t bothered to remember how and my tools are probably different that yours.

put the favicon in your “head” section (coded), view source of a page you like, or any with a favicon image and put in folder images in wordrpess file area, its very very easy.

i.e:

<link rel=”shortcut icon” href=”images/favicon.ico” type=”image/x-icon” />

favicons are 16 by 16 pixels so blow up an image to like 400% and work in dots almost, save and name as favicon, actually does not matter im sure if named whatever you want.

Now I remember too! As nubirth said. the .ico format is a challenge for some “alternative” platforms.

into?

favicon.ico goes into your root directory.

But where do you put the bit of code??? What .php file or whatever?

place it into Header.php, after creating your xxx.ico file (it HAS to be a .ico file) place it in the root directory or amend the line to <link rel="shortcut icon" href="images/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /> and place it into the /images/ folder.

If you put it your root directory you need no code. The browser looks for it automatically.

I made one once but it stunk. Lol.
You have to make sure your picture will look good when it is shrunk really small.
