How do I delete the sidebar?

    A few months ago I could easily work with WordPress; it was very friendly then. Now it is very unfriendly. Very frustrating!
    How do I delete the side bar so I have just a single column?
    Where are the tutorials?

  • i don’t think these basic wordpress things have changed in the last few months.

    usually the sidebar gets call by get_sidebar(); in the template file that wants to have a sidebar.

    if you delete that code in your template file (index.php for the front page, single.php for a single post view, see https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Template_Hierarchy )
    then the sidebar will not show.

    you probably need to adjust some styles in style.css(?) depending on your theme.

    When I last modified blogs that I have I didn’t need to actually change code and I didn’t have to modify style sheets. I used to get acceptable blog appearance without doing all that. I know a little HTML but I don’t know how to modify style sheets. But, anyway…………

    I do thank you very much for your help.
    Do you know of tutorials about style sheets and working with them?
