• I’m trying to find out how to create a template that will remind (force?) blog authors to enter a critical piece of information in certain posts.

We have a set of categories and subcategories to sort certain posts. However each post will have a distinct case number something like YYYY-NNNN where Y is the year of the case and N is the number of the case in that year.

I would like a simple two row by one column table that would have the case number in the first row and the abstract of the case in the second row.

I’ve looked at Custom Fields but don’t think that will work because the number will change for every post.

I’ve installed the Single Post Template plugin but for the life of me can’t figure out how to design the template.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

A custom page template will only really come into play once the post is published and is being viewed. Templates in WordPress don’t work like templates in MS Word.

It sounds like you are looking for a plugin that works on the admin side that will pop-up a window just after they click “publish” that reminds them to enter that data.

    That’s exactly what I want.

Either remember to enter the data or format the entry window that they are reminded or forced to enter the data.

I did install TinyMCE Advanced and was able to do basically what I wanted by entering a 1 x 2 table in my post. The trouble with that is I have to remember that for each post in that category.
