• Hello,

I’m currently trying to migrate my works website from Bluehost to WP Engine.

The WP Engine rep told me the only think that is likely blocking this process is, ‘if you have a setting or plugin activated that would block public access to the site without proper username and password. Thats called basic auth on our end.’

I’m assuming the plugin doing this is our Securi Security plug in. I can’t find a simple way to turn this off or deactivate it temporarily so the migration process can go through. Securi reps were no help because we are only using their free plugin.

Even online I can not find any info on whether or not this Securi Security plug in is what’s halting this migration process. Everything Securi related I find is about their full paid security services.

No one from WPEngine, Bluehost, or Securi can be of any help unfortunately. If anyone can offer any helpful insight that would be much appreciated. Thank you.

  • @jonrehr What’s the domain name? It can be difficult to determine without seeing the actual error message being generated and when it occurs.

You can always try temporarily renaming the main .htaccess file to something like .htaccess-bk and then temporarily renaming the plugin directory that you want disabled so for Sucuri’s plugin it would generally be /wp-content/plugins/sucuri-scanner/ renamed to something like /wp-content/plugins/sucuri-scanner-bk/.
