• Hi

This is my site https://www.hrsr.co.uk/?page_id=4345 I am having bandwidth problems and my local host wants to increase my fees substantially. We have a max bandwidth of 3000mb. I have tried optimising using RIOT but at 40k the quality is poor.

I have been advised to: “use a php gallery script similar to the one at this link https://lagbag.com/goodgallery/. The script generates its own thumbnails and put it in the folder with the photos you want to display, access it by loading its URL into an iframe and it does the rest.”

    Questions:
1 How do I do this in WordPress/Mantra?
2 What is a good size photo?
3 Any suggestions on how to display my photos better?

    Thanks

    Marius

  • Hi,

I see that you use Jetpack on site. What about idea to use Photon – their free CDN for images, that all your images will be loaded from their server?

Also some kind of “lazdy load” plugin can help you. It will load images just what user see on screen and load rest only if user will scroll down, so not every opened site with images will load all of them.
Good idea is to change your hosting provider too ??

Btw. you can create gallery with thumbnails with WordPress core gallery functionality, without any additional plugin. So page open and load just thumbnails, not full sized photos.

You can check also some optimization of image tools like “kraken, smush …” you can do it externally before you upload them, also with some plugin automatically during uploading to your site.
