  • The question is what exactly would you like to change? WordPress is organized in such a way that each page is made of many different files controlling different aspects of the site e.g. footer.php controls the footer section, sidebar.php controls the sidebar and so on. What you should do is get the template php file that outputs the static homepage and edit that.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I tried to find the template php file where I could edit the home page, but I didn’t see where I could. I wanted to update our static home page with text, because the event that’s on there has sold out and I wanted to change the dates to reflect the new event.

I’ve been working on this for hours and I’ve looked at previous forums for the answer and didn’t find any to help me.

It’s difficult to figure out what you mean without more detailed information.

Here are some things to try:

The static home page can be set via your dashboard under settings > reading. Maybe you could try creating a new home page and setting it there?

Usually text is changed via the page editor or sometimes the text is in widgets (look under appearance > widgets on your dashboard.

Another thing to look at if it’s an event is maybe there’s a plugin or custom post type to add in events and you can just edit or add a new event and it will automatically show up on the home page.
