How do I embed vimeo video in Customizer?

  • I just did a fresh install that was smooth as silk. Thanks for the great work!

    Boy, did I get excited when I started working with Twenty Seventeen theme! I really like the direction taken. But what if I don’t use YouTube? Is there syntax or workaround for those of us who use Vimeo? And yes, specifically I’m making reference to the video header. Please advise…and thanks in advance for your response ??

  • Doesn’t appear to be an easy way I’m afraid. Poking around with it and looking at the code, it appears to be explicitly limited to YouTube. Given that it doesn’t appear to be using the regular YouTube player it appears to be extracting the video in a way that isn’t necessarily easily applicable to Vimeo.

    If I had to guess I’d say the expectation is that you would upload your own video if not using YouTube, alas.

    Bummer dude! The feature is still a great idea…yet too restrictive for those of us not following the herd. Uploading video defeats the purpose of a video CDN. Well maybe, they’ll be some traction to enhance this feature to make it more robust sometime in the (near) future. Alas, thanks again for your response and enjoy this holiday season O:)
