How Do I Enable SSL?

  • I was reading that WordPress sites should automatically have SSL certificates generated, but that appears not to be the case. I am not terribly familiar with the WordPress dashboard, is there a setting I am missing?
    We currently have WordPress 5.7.12

  • No, WordPress doesn’t come with anything like that. The task of providing an SSL certificate is the responsibility of your host. You should therefore contact their support team to clarify this.

    SSL certificates are not managed directly from the WordPress dashboard but are instead handled through your hosting provider or server configuration. Most hosting providers now offer free SSL certificates, so check with yours for more details.
