How do I exclude featured image from the post?

  • I need to use the featured image for the slideshow but only want text or selected images or videos (not featured image) to be in the post.

    Is there a way to exclude or remove the featured image from the post itself but still have a featured images declared on the post for use in slideshow or other featured images functions?

  • You probably need to modify the template code that is used to display the posts. If you are not comfortable with doing this yourself, you may need to hire someone.

    I was afraid of that. is there somewhere I could do a feature request for future wp iterations?

    That would be a theme feature, not a WP feature.

    If you examine index.php you might find code that refers to has_post_thumbnail. If so, post a few lines of code (10 or so) with that in the middle and someone might be able to help.
