• Installed the plugin to a test site. Tried to do one simple thing, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it.

    FLOAT AN IMAGE.

Clcikclickclickclick everywhere, nothing…. I’m not an idiot.

I can align text, how do you align an image?

Hi there, let’s see about getting you some help here. You should be able to click on an image, like this:

If you are unable to see this, could you let me know what browser and version Of Gutenberg you are using? Then I can investigate if there is a bug limiting this interaction for you.

    @karmatosed,

Hi there, let’s see about getting you some help here. You should be able to click on an image, like this:

    There is nothing after.

When I click on an image all I see are four dots (resize handles?). The Block submenu only includes the following options:

    1. Alternate text
    2. Size
    3. Advanced–Additiona CSS class

    Nothing else.

I am using Firefox 57.0 on macOS 10.12.6 (localhost), Gutenberg 1.7.0

Could you please describe what I should be seeing? I have no idea what I am even looking for.

Tried it on Safari 11.0.1 as well. Not a browser issue.

Running WordPress version 4.9 on localhost.

I figured out how to float an image. Turns out the alignment controls for the images are in a toolbar at the top of the editor. However, the alignment buttons for text are in the sidebar “block” tab which is where I was looking for them.

Why is the Block Alignment in the sidebar for text, and in the top toolbar for images?

The UI for this editor is really quite confusing. There are at least three places I have to look for controls: the top toolbar, which is minimal and context-specific; the sidebar tabs (Ugh, this is just horrible) and the three little dot thingy that seems totally superfluous.

Oh, there’s another three-dot thingy hiding up in the corner, I just found that… I’m not going to go into any more analysis if the UI here, I’ll work it up into a review.

Fairly confusing. Would prefer to have the settings for a block on the right hand side as well as in the top bar, for consistency. Vote one for that feature.

is there a way to unfloat an image??

I did it by editting the code, but perhaps this is not the best way

    Al

After reading this thread i still cannot find a way to left-float an image.

    Related image problems –

    1. It is not possible to add an image in the code editor (where i do all my work). When i add an image manually in the code editor it doesn’t show in the visual editor!

    2. Why does image get added with https:// when the whole site and page i’m editing is https:// ??

    3. It’s a huge pain to select an image size because the dimensions are not shown any more.

So many more steps to do everything. The new UI is a total mess. All i want to do is type some text and add a few images and that is not even possible.

This topic is 7 months old, as such I’ll be closing it. This is done because the development of Gutenberg is moving forward rapidly, and such old topics are rarely relevant any more.
