I just logged into my site to create a new page for the first time in a couple months. The new Gutenberg editor seems to have removed my admin toolbar but only when i’m the editor mode.

How do I get this back? I really like it and use it often even when i’m in the editor. It’s visible in the dashboard so I have no idea what’s going on. Can anyone throw me a suggestion?

    Thanks!

They wanted a minimal interface (I don’t know why) so you can open an issue to request it: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/
On second thought, maybe a Trac ticket would be better, since supposedly Gutenberg is a separate project (can be used in Drupal or other context). So a core WP ticket saying that the admin bar isn’t showing in the editor might be better: https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/

I have a feeling they won’t add it back in, and the new screens for Widgets and Menus and Full Site Editing likely won’t have it either since they are based on the same editor. Maybe if you catch it before that other stuff is merged, it can affect all of them.

    Well dang that is frustrating.

I also doubt opening a ticket will result in anything. They sure are making it difficult for me to continue using WP.

I don’t have a problem using the block editor but when they start removing tools I feel like they are developing for the lowest level of user.

    Thanks for your response Joy!
