• Hi can anybody tell me in dummies language with appropriate links provided,

how to clean up this page https://thepeopleslaw.co.nz/ abit by getting rid of these options on the right and bottom:

    “”ARCHIVES
    December 2012
    META
    Site Admin
    Log out
Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a reply “”

(I can no longer drag them into the Inactive widgets box).

I cant see anywhere in clear English what version of WordPress I am using but only downloaded it 2 days ago

  • start by creating a child theme of Twenty Eleven for the customisations, or work with a custom css plugin, so that the edits are not lost with the next upgrade.

to ‘get rid of’ Archives and Meta (also known as ‘the sidebar’), select the ‘one-column’ option under dashboard – appearance – theme options.

if you need the full width, try to use the forum search the find suggestions on what to edit in the css.

to remove Posted in Uncategorized etc, you could add this to style.css of the child theme or into the custom css:

    article footer { display: none; }

    Thanks got this bit done:

” to ‘get rid of’ Archives and Meta (also known as ‘the sidebar’), select the ‘one-column’ option under dashboard – appearance – theme options”

but not going to burn energy learning anythingelse at the moment unless there is a way to just follow video steps

On another note, I am surprised I can see nowhere in my profile to change my password here to a more user friendly one?

in my profile to change my password here

click ‘Member’ below your username; click ‘edit’ on the right, below ‘profile’; scroll down, the password section is near the end.

<<<to ‘get rid of’ Archives and Meta (also known as ‘the sidebar’), select the ‘one-column’ option under dashboard – appearance – theme options.>>>

This worked but it significantly narrowed the page here:

Is there anyway to to ‘get rid of’ Archives and Meta ( ‘the sidebar’)
    without narrowing the page?

    Thanks Tom
