How do I get rid of the HUGE gap in the header?

Which theme are you using? Did you try to use the inspector to find out which CSS rule you have to modify?

Hi @coolcookie, your div with the .header-background class has a height: 700px;, just decrease its value or remove the property to avoid that gap. Just in case, this is CSS code, you have to tweak the styles.

Where do I put that?

you have to add it to customizer additional css. Click on the customizer button go to the bottom and click on the additional css button. Add the following text

.header-background{ 
   height:700px;
}
