  • That is coming from Settings General Tagline if you can change that or if just do not want to display anything there then you do in style.css

    #site-description {
    clear:right;
    float:right;
    font-style:italic;
    margin-top:60px;
    width:220px;

    add
    display:none;

    will this affect the SEO? I don’t want to actually change the name of the site. I might just add display:none to the CSS, although I don’t like this method. Thanks

    The tagline is meant to be a very short description of your site – not its title. Providing a good tagline enhances SEO.

    If you use display none then it is not displayed on the page but it still there in Code so search engines will still read the tagline.

    Um – not quite true. Google can (and sometimes does) ignore any content styled with display:none;. Far better to position the element offleft.

    Thank you Esmi I was under impression that search engine will read page code and did not know that it will through style.css.

    Oh – Google has been CSS aware for some time now. ??
