I want to use wordpress in the classroom, for students to submit/post their essays each week — and then I will respond and grade them via the comments feature. However, some students may feel uncomfortable if I put their grade in plain view of everyone else. Is there anyway that I can somehow attach a grade to the post but make the grade invisible to everyone except the student who made the post? Is there a private vs. public comment feature?

    Thanks,

    Tom

So far no student has complained about this method. I just publish an Excel spreadsheet and list students by ID numbers. As someone suggested previously, I completed deleted the column that lists student names next to their ID numbers. I found that even if I hid a cell and then locked and published it, I could easily copy the text, paste it into a new Excel file, and see the hidden cell.

Guest login doesn’t work, I’ll try again later.

you could also save the table as HTML, and post it as a post within the category…
