How do I install wp as a subdir or subdomain of website

    I have an existing website that I want to remain the same.

    I want to install a WordPress blog at, for example, mysite.com/blog or at a subdomain.

    I do not need the design to match. I just want to know if this is possible. Will WordPress take over the site and turn it into a wp site or will it stay in the subdir or subdomain?
