• I’ve uploaded the Google XML Sitemaps Plug-In to the proper directory on my server. Now how do I make the 2 pages, ie, sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.gz, inside FileZilla??

I see where I can make directories, but I don’t see anything about making pages?

Need help here. Thanks so much.

  • You don’t. Filezilla is not for creating “pages”.
You create them on your computer and upload to the proper location.

Thanks and I’m basically aware of that fact.

What I’m referring to is the direction given in WordPress under Plugin Directory for the PlugIn Google XML Sitemaps, where under #2 it states “Use your favorite FTP program to “create” two files in your WordPress directory (that’s where the wp-config.php is) names sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.gz and make them writable via CHMOD 666)” etc, etc….that’s the quote.

So from that I made the assumption that one could “create” pages in their FTP program by some means.

That’s the reason for the inquiry. Thanks.

nah.. create them with a text editor and use filezilla to upload them… just drag them over to the proper location and drop them… whalaa- created files.

First of all, they aren’t pages, they’re files.
Some FTP clients can create files on the remote server, some can’t.
It’s a moot point. Create them on your local machine and upload them via FTP.

Thanks guys. It’s done and done. And you answered my questions. My thanks as always.
